Do It Yourself Solar

“Concentrating Solar Power by Solucar Power”

On October 05, 2007 in water heating

Found an interesting article while doing some research on parabolic troughs. My favorite quote from the article would have to be this little gem of knowledge I wasn’t aware of: “At least 30 million Chinese households have a solar thermal system; and, 4 of every 5 systems sold in the world in 2005 were in China.”

You can read the article Here

We have a house where the bathrooms are on the opposite side from the H2O heater. I want make a solar water heater with a small ( 20 Gal) holding tank. Then use a recirculation pump to move the water through the heater into the holding tank. I have been looking for a small in-line water pump powered by solar power. Then when the sun is shinning it will circulate the water. Most are either cold water submersible or cost to much. Does any one have any ideas
    TIA

  2. admin Said,

    Have you looked into thermosyphons?

Are you looking for a pump that comes from the factory powered by the sun, or are you going to setup a battery back-up and solar panel system to power the pump?

Feel free to email me with more details and attach a schematic of the system, I will try to help you come up with some more ideas.
