Solar Power Forum

I’ve been browsing around over at the “Solar Power Forum” for the past hour or so, and have found some great posts I thought I’d share with you all..
Discussion regarding charging electric cars with PV arrays
Are there pros and cons to solar energy?
Wiring Inverter to a Step-Up Transformer
VERY LARGE Home PV Installation <——– GREAT!! 48kWh per day! Completely DIY! Here is a discussion about it
They seem to have opened up a forum for Design Specifications which currently has some articles about system design, but no real discussion so far.
In the “Off Grid” section of the forum I found this interesting discussion about off-grid homes being a form of sprawl, and found it to be a good read, so check it out if you have the time.
I will be adding these links to the appropriate sections of the site as I get the chance. Thanks for stopping by!

Need to update links as Solar Power Forum has changed.
new link : http://www.solarpowerforum.net/forumVB/index.php
woops!
Thanks for the heads up!
Unfortunately I don’t have the time right now to dig through looking for those old threads to update the link. Hopefully for now searching the forum for the title of the post I linked to will work.
I closely follow the solar industry, and I like how power plants, sources and installations are all getting bigger and better. If solar power is ever going to start generating massive amounts of energy, we need economies of scale to really kick in. Still I’m also really interested in the micro-level. I’m considering buying a house in Riverside, California that utilizes solar power as an incentive that was based on the real estate model described by Adam Edward Rothwell, a real estate professional and attorney at http://www.solarpowerandrealestate.com I think down the road solar power will become a fundamental part of more real estate transactions.
Does anyone here know of different ways we can get more people into solar power?
enRGPlaya:
Getting more people into solar power is one of my main reasons for having this website. Those that are already interested obviously benefit as well, but I want to show people that at least on a small scale this is something that isn’t that hard to do.
As more people buy panels, the companies should theoretically be able to reduce the cost of production, and/or research better methods of generating energy.
I try to mention the website to people when talking to them about solar power, because there are a good collection of links here that can help one find lots of excellent information.
As always, feel free to point people in this direction, or even send me any links you have that I don’t have posted, if you feel they belong in this collection of info. (I’ll add the solarpowerandrealestate link now
)
Great posts.. Me too having such similar posts..Can i post the the links?

Hi folks,
Thanks for the great content you’re all providing, I believe that we should be looking for alternative energy sources not just to save money, but also to preserve the environment as much as possible. Some of the info found on the links above is really inspiring. I hope to follow on the above steps through my small website discussing the Solar Power Home concept, since I sincerely feel that everyone should be seriously working on this.
Thanks for the comments, Bryan.
But there is only one of me, not a whole team working on the site. Unfortunately this is the cause for periods of inactivity, as I seem to be quite busy most of the time.
I’ll be sure to check out your site, and will add a link to it as well.

Hello admin,
I am a nuclear technician aboard an aircraft carrier. When it comes to energy production I think nuclear is the way to go for our large vessels in the US Navy. HOWEVER, for commercial and residential use solar power should be converted to mainstream. I do believe that our nation uses old technology because it has been around for a long time….. therefore it is easier to use and cheap. But when it comes to new technology we should advance ourselves and invest in solar technology as it will be to any countries benefit to be self sufficent. I would like to help you raise interest in solar power. Contact me if you would like to continue this conversation….. Thanks admin.
Thanks for the information. I really enjoyed the pictures of the process of installing the solar panels. One thing that you might add is the State requirements for undertaking a project of that magnitude. I have the requirements for New York in one of my blog posting. For additional information please visit

PS, I would like to subscribe to your site for additional information.
Hi! It’s interesting reading about DIY solar projects for the home. I am also trying to get one installed piece by piece as the cost is quite expensive… my plan is to get a solar system set up for backup/emergencies as well as lowering electricity bills but not really for replacing my whole house usage.
I’ve got some more information here: http://www.energynovice.com/ based on my experiences in researching and finding best methods to do things. Hope this would be useful for anyone reading this forum!

Hi,
With my website (www.TurtugaBlanku.com) and through my solar power music, I like to show that solar energy can be used to power up any kind of business, including the music business.
Check it out if you feel in need of a bit of recorded sunshine.
cheers!

Info on solar power landscape light fixtures http://www.landscapelightingworld.com/solar-led-a/138.htm
Its not exactly there for illuminating areas, but lumen output is improving. I would like to see larger panels used (mounted seprately from the fixture so they can get more power. If you know of any, let me know.
Hey guys, this maybe an old thread, but someone asked how do we get more people into solar. I just did a 3 part lecture at the local community college. I made it simple for the students to understand while talking about system design, economics, and LEED. Most community colleges have at least one professor interested in this stuff, and if you contact them they LOVE guest speakers. Our youth are in many ways ahead of us in terms of acceptance of renewable energy, but they need education in the nuts and bolts. Go get em!
I’ve been researching DIY Solar for quite some time now. I finally got some panels on my roof. The following links helped me:

I have never posted to a forum. I have some information I feel would be relavent to this site but I am not sure how much I should post as I also sell so e-books on this subject. Someone please let me know what is acceptable and what is not.
Clyde,
Post as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.
If you generate income with your knowledge it can often be hard to give it away for free and I understand that 100%.
I don’t make any money doing this aside from the little bit of ad revenue I get, so I don’t really mind giving up the info with no cost.
This website is intended as a sort of information cache, so anything you have that is relevant to the subject is more than welcome.
If you want to send me an email at operose (@) gmail (dot) com I can check out your website if you have one and post a link on the site here if it seems to be helpful stuff, or just pass along any info you think people should know that won’t hurt you financially.
Thanks for stopping by!

Solar Energy is the way to go to save our planet. The State of New York is striving to be a center of clean-technology development, with a 10-year goal of being 25% percent green, I though this site http://www.idtenergy.com/green_new.aspx had some interesting tips to buy green and save energy.
I was disappointed when I came across this forum, I guess I was expecting a bit more.
The information here did help me however, including some of the websites posted in the comments. I’d also like to mention DIY Solar Power Guides, as I was able to pick up a full 80 watt panel and batteries from the website.
Let’s keep it green!
I was Looking through the internet the other day and came across this website, they got some really cool gadgets for solar power, i ordered a solar power mobile phone charger from there, just thought ide share with you if your looking for alternative energy sources.
